Surprised by the sudden return of Michael Jordan in the basketball scene after his abrupt retirement to play baseball, Nike released some of the older versions of the Air Jordan with a little twist. They redesigned some of the old models particularly from the Air Jordan III's, V's and VI's. Although it was not particularly liked by most, it was also time for the buyers to upgrade their older versions and buy these as a salute to Michael's return on the hardcourt. One of the most obvious differences that Air Jordan X have are the soles that feature a particular honor or reward from each year that Michael Jordan had spent in the NBA league. There was also the number 45 that MJ wore in his return stitched on the shoes. Limited quantities of different team colors and numbers of different players from the NBA were also produced and sold.
